  • If you are a medical student applying for our program at the PGY-2 year, you must simultaneously apply for a transitional or preliminary year residency program. This required clinical year can be completed in any ACGME accredited program. In addition, the Department of Internal Medicine at UMMC offers preliminary positions that will meet this requirement.
  • Successful applicants must apply for and receive admission to the School of Graduate Studies in Health Sciences at UMMC prior to entering our program.
  • Applicants who graduated more than 5 years ago are rarely considered for interviews unless they have been actively practicing medicine in the U.S. and are fully licensed.
